End of year reflection. Time to be honest about which watches actually got wrist time.

Most worn: Perun Veles

No surprise here. The pointer date captured my attention in June and never let go. Probably 150+ days on wrist. The €399 purchase that embarrassed everything else in the collection.

Second place: Sinn 556i

The reliable choice. Work days, travel days, days when I couldn’t decide. The Sinn was always there. Roughly 100 days.

Biggest disappointment: The vintage dress watch

Wore it maybe 15 times all year. The 34mm size felt too small after months with the Veles. The movement needs service - gaining 30 seconds daily now. Might be time to sell.

The one I should have worn more: G-Shock

Bought it for outdoor activities. Barely went outdoors. Sitting in the drawer feeling neglected. 2026 resolution: go outside more.

Total watches worn in 2025: 5

I own more than that. The others collected dust. Maybe it’s time to thin the collection.

The lesson from 2025: wear your watches. The best one is the one on your wrist, not the one in a box.

Happy new year.

My Watch Box Has Too Many Empty Slots

Bought a 12-slot watch box three years ago. “Room to grow,” I told myself. Seven slots remain empty. The empty slots taunt me. They whisper about the Cartier Tank I haven’t bought. The Grand Seiko I can’t justify. The chronograph I keep researching but never purchasing.

You Don't Need a DSLR to Photograph Watches

People ask about my watch photos. What camera do I use? What lighting setup? The answer disappoints them: a phone and a window. Natural light does 90% of the work. Position the watch near a window on an overcast day. The diffused light minimizes reflections on the crystal and brings out dial texture.

Saw Three Speedmasters Today

Record broken. Three Omega Speedmasters spotted in one day, all on different wrists, none at a watch event. First one: Hesalite Professional on a guy getting coffee. Worn bracelet, scratched crystal, clearly loved. We nodded at each other.
