A watch enthusiast blog dedicated to exploring timepieces, craftsmanship, and horological culture. From vintage classics to modern marvels, we celebrate the art of watchmaking.

Four hour layover in Munich. Perfect opportunity for some watch spotting.

Count for today: three Submariners (two green, one black), two Apple Watches Ultra, one Lange Saxonia on a guy in business class, and what I’m pretty sure was a fake Patek Nautilus.

The fake was obvious. The blue was too saturated, the finishing on the bracelet looked like it came from a gumball machine. The guy wearing it seemed genuinely happy though. Who am I to judge.

The Lange guy caught me looking. We exchanged the knowing nod. Fellow enthusiast detected.

There’s something about airports that brings out interesting pieces. People travel with their best watches, or they travel with their beaters. Very little middle ground.

My travel companion today is a Sinn 556i. 38.5mm, Arabic numerals, anthracite dial. It’s been through 50+ flights and still keeps perfect time. Never worrying about it getting stolen or damaged is the real luxury.

Next time you’re stuck in an airport, look at wrists instead of your phone. Way more entertaining.
